These apartment buildings were painted red because they had bad FengShui. The Chinese believe in the forces of nature. Buildings, their locations and designs must harmonize with the principles of FengShui. Some time ago there was a prison in this area and people were shot here. That's why people fear bad FengShui. The towers and color are supposed to help fight the evil forces of the past. I learned the story about the prison from a person who was born in Shenzhen.
