Many tourists visiting the Middle Kingdom expect such towers, old buildings and fortresses. Unfortunately, some of them will be disappointed, because in many cities such 'classics' are being demolished or were destroyed in the Mao era. Few of them have survived because the Chinese have a more practical approach - they like it when real estate brings profits. Here they make money from tourism, I also guess that they have some funding, for example from Unesco. Unfortunately, many monuments were lost when China was isolated from the world. And now they are dying because of the desire for profits. Why does someone need an old tower or temple if they can build a good hotel or a huge massage parlor there?
