In my opinion, Chinese architecture has moved too much towards glassy, Western modernity. They have lost many traditional solutions. This type of windows allowed you to look at the home garden and provide light. Now they can be found in temples, in parks - like here in YueXiu in Guangzhou. In my opinion, such elements could even be used as decorations in new apartments. Sometimes they appear in various gazebos or pagodas that decorate new housing estates.
