Xinghai Square, a representative place in Dalian, Liaoning Province. The promenade on the Yellow Sea is a favorite place for tourists and many walkers. In the 19th century, the city was called Dalnyj and belonged to Russia, but at the beginning of the 20th century it passed into the hands of the Japanese. It was only in 1945 that the city was taken over by the Chinese, and the USSR maintained a naval base for the next 10 years.
