Life and Travel in China

Today is the mooncake festival in China, which has a bit of history behind it. The legendary beauty left her beloved and flew to the Moon, she wanted to live forever and is said to be living on the Moon to this day. The Chinese started giving each other cookies a month earlier. They all taste similar, but differ in brands and packaging (metal boxes, forks included, cookies in separate boxes). Prices for such a set of 4-6 cakes can reach up to 400-500 RMB. It is difficult to compare them to Polish sweets. They have the shape of a rectangular block, on the outside there is baked dough and some Chinese symbols and patterns, inside there is fruit mass (not always), and inside there is a whole cooked egg yolk. The worst, however, are the shrimp and fish flavored cookies with a nasty smell. Moon cakes are very filling and one can fill you up for half a day.

I saw an unusual scene today. A guy getting off the train found 20 RMB (about PLN 8) on the stairs. He looked at his friend from the side and said he knew who it was. He started calling the guy who got off in front of him some time ago. The guy was already leaving the platform and going down the stairs, but the other guy heard the call and turned around, then the finder asked the guy to call the other guy. When he turned around, he gave him the 20 RMB. It may seem like nothing, but who would do that today? Most people would hide the banknote and pretend nothing happened.

And I will probably ask the Chinese ambassador in North Korea to ask the Koreans on my behalf to conduct another nuclear test in Warsaw, on Wiejska Street. Only such drastic measures can 'dissolve' our inept parliament for good.

Yesterday, standing in the middle of the bus with my wife, I observed an interesting scene. One young guy was sitting next to the guy, about 40 years old. Suddenly the young man says to him "what are you looking at?". The older one replied to him and suddenly two of the young man's friends got up and started hitting the man. And since they pushed me too, and I didn't like their three-on-one gang, I tried to separate them. I had no intention of getting involved, but I just stood between them. The guests kicked and punched the elder in the face. An old man with a hearing aid also tried to separate them, and after a while the driver got involved. One of them pushed my wife and then I got angry and pushed them the other way and separated them from the guy they were beating for basically no reason. The bus pulled into the police station and we waited 10 minutes for an officer. Because I was in a hurry, we just got out and took a taxi, and the older guy explained to the police what happened.
