Life and Travel in China

Looking at Europe and the USA in general, one can come to a simple conclusion that China is a very peaceful country at the moment. Let's see what is happening in the Arab world after the Pope's statement. Not only America but Europe are now targeted by Islamists. Russia still has problems with Chechnya and other fighters and terrorists. And China? Is China seriously threatened? Are they outright threatening anyone? Someone may raise the problem of Taiwan, but I will answer: what about the Basque country? Have we forgotten about IRAs? Yugoslavia? The Chinese are really peaceful towards the whole world and very tolerant.

I'm currently listening to Minister Lepper on Polish radio. Interesting phrases: "Let them hide their scares in a tree", "They will be bald when they pay me compensation", "I was soaked". He also talked about election promises, how little nurses earn, how pensioners can't afford medicines, etc. And Mr. Lepper can afford planes and limousines and luxury travel? Such absurdities only happen in Poland.

What a simple system it is... in large Chinese cities there are areas where modern skyscrapers are being built every 100-200 meters. What progress and development this is, shocking! Who earns and benefits from this? All! Starting with the government, local government, which earns money from taxes and land. Then there are the development companies that build these skyscrapers. Workers also earn money, entire armies of workers who are not poor in the countryside. It's true that they live modestly and earn little, but it's better than vegetation. Food suppliers, hawkers, and small shops that serve these workers also earn money. It's nice to look at this development and progress, because after living in Poland for 22 years I have never seen it. Now, when I return to my homeland, I don't see it either, there is no progress in Poland, nothing changes and nothing happens there. All thanks to our rulers!

And I would like to wish myself and all Poles in China that Poland would become better recognizable. So that when asked where you are from, I don't have to repeat that I'm from Poland. They often don't know what country this is?! They don't even know that it is one of the largest countries in Europe and in the very center of Europe. They always just grimace or say, "Poland, a beautiful country" - just to be nice. And maybe soon, when I say Poland, someone will answer me "Aaah, Poland, Kubica". It doesn't matter, it may also be Szopen, Małysz, or Dudek, because John Paul II probably never was and will never be popular here. The idea is for Poland to have a logo, a business card, positive of course. A few months ago, in my wife's company, a Japanese man said, "Have you heard that twin brothers rule one country?" He didn't even know it was Poland. It's pathetic, why can't Poland promote and sell itself better in China?

Correction to yesterday's entry. In the evening, a guy on the subway talked to me, a guy about 40 years old, but he spoke English well because he had studied foreign languages ​​a long time ago. When I told him I was from Poland, he asked about Wałęsa. However, middle-aged and better educated people know something about Poland. After all, Wałęsa was there 16 years ago, we don't have anything new on offer? For so many years, no new logo, no new success, no new, positive character? Apparently not!
