Life and Travel in China

Shenzhen Airlines is introducing Internet and mobile phone coverage on its planes during flights. Sometimes I can't stand it on the bus when someone is shouting on their cell phone the whole way. Now imagine such a situation on an airplane. Not that I want to sleep, but at least rest for a while, read something... Now it won't be that easy. They can really shout at each other on the phone, the time of the conversation is never important. I haven't checked what it looks like yet, but the information was provided by local television.

What has happened... the French are persecuting me in China. In a restaurant two weeks ago, a Frenchman and a Chinese woman, yesterday in a typical Chinese restaurant (mainly people from Hong Kong, practically no foreigners every day) there was a French couple. Some time ago I also met a Pole from France. My Chinese friend (also a model, there are photos of her on this website) took a French course. I also met a French cyclist via the Internet. Not to mention the Chinese women I know who have some French descriptions in their instant messengers. French expansion into China had apparently begun.

Today, in an English-language bookstore, a young Chinese man asks me in English, of course, if I am interested in rugby, because there is a nice book there. Then he asks me where I come from? When I replied that I was from Poland. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Good morning." He even went a step further - "My name is Tadeusz." It turned out that a year ago he met some Polish models in Shenzhen and one of them turned his head. He went crazy enough to buy a VCD and learn Polish. Unfortunately, the girls left... but every bad thing doesn't come to good. Polish can still be useful sometimes!

What an irony this is... I know personally and from stories of spoiled girls from rich families who, at their own request, give up studies or even high school. They want to be adults and go out into the world. Then they work part-time somewhere and look for excitement. And at the same time, somewhere in the countryside, their peers have no opportunity to obtain any education. There are no great schools in the provinces, and education (even primary education) is associated with huge costs. And that's how it is, someone who has the opportunity to study gives up on it, and someone else who would like to get an education doesn't even have such a chance.

I had just lost my appetite at breakfast, and an interesting couple appeared in the restaurant at the decent Best Western hotel in Fujian province. A guy about 60 years old, a dirty, fat (I guess) American or Canadian, and with him a young Chinese woman, about 25-30 years old. Great parka! To make matters worse, she started hugging him at the table. I have nothing against them, but I lose my appetite when I see it, they could save their advances for later and take them to the room with them.
